Poem in Your Pocket Day is a way to celebrate and share our favorite poems. It’s a day to keep a poem in the back of your mind (or literally in your pocket) and share it with your friends, family, or whoever! Here at GNB Vov-Tech, we had our own little celebration for Poem in Your Pocket Day.
William Charpentier is senior in IT who quotes “Success is counted sweetest by those who ne’er succeed. To comprehend a nectar requires sorest need” from Emily Dickinson’s “Success is Counted Sweetest.”
Daniel Burgos is a senior in Fashion Design and his favorite poem is “Irreplacable” by Rupi Kaur. It’s understandable why he likes this poem considering it has lines like “The universe . . . crafted you to offer the world something different than everyone else.”
Ms. Fortin is a history teacher here at GNB Voc-Tech who’s favorite poem is “I am a Teacher” by John W. Schlatter. She quotes “I was born the first moment that a question leaped from the mouth of a child.”
Morgan Mihomme is a student at GNB Voc-Tech who’s favorite poem is “I Do My Thing” by Frederick S. Pearls. With lines like “I am not in this word to live up to your expectations, and you are not in this world to live up to mine. You are you and I am I,” Morgan liking this poem is not surprising!
Ms. Pinho is a librarian here at GNB Voc-Tech who’s favorite poem is “Library Poem” by Julia Donaldson. She quotes “The librarian’s a friend who loves to lend, so see if there’s a book that she can recommend.”
