Dear GNBVT Community,
As we welcome the start of spring, I hope this message finds you all in good health and high spirits. The changing of the seasons brings new energy and opportunities for growth, and I wish everyone a wonderful start to this vibrant time of year.
This week, I wanted to send a special Motivating Monday Message over the PA System to encourage our seniors to stay focused and work hard:
"Seniors, as you know, Trimester 2 is officially in the books, and now we’re in the home stretch—Trimester 3. That means you have barely seven weeks left of school. To those of you who have been putting in the work, keep pushing forward! For those who still have unfinished business, now is the time to lock in and make sure you meet all of your graduation requirements.
You’ve been in school for 12 years, and we are gearing up to celebrate that journey with senior activities, prom, and, most importantly, graduation in May and June. Don’t let anything stand in the way of those memories and that moment of glory.
And as always, my goal is to see every single one of you leave here enrolled, employed, or enlisted. So stay focused, remember your purpose, and giddy up!
Let’s have a great week, and always remember to prepare with purpose, pursue with passion, persevere with pride, and always be kind!"
While this message is specifically directed toward our seniors, it also resonates with our 9th through 11th graders as we draw closer to June. It is important that we remain motivated and disciplined to finish the year strong.
As a reminder, Progress Reports for Trimester 3 will close on May 2nd. Parents and guardians, you can always monitor your child’s progress through the Aspen Parent Portal. Reaching out to your child’s teachers is also a great way to gather the information needed to have informed conversations and continue supporting their success.
Thank you for your continued partnership and dedication to our students’ growth and achievements. Let’s make the most of this spring season!
Principal Williams

Starting in early April, GNBRVTHS will be conducting state-mandated SBIRT screenings for our 9th grade students. The Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) screening process focuses on the use of alcohol, marijuana, nicotine (vaping) and other substances; along with the importance of making healthy decisions. This screening consists of a series of questions only. The goal of this screening is to let our students know that we are available to them to discuss any questions or concerns related to substance use and assist them in obtaining support and treatment if needed to address substance abuse.
All SBIRT screenings are conducted confidentially by our trained school nurses and counselors in private one-on-one sessions. This program focuses on prevention, which includes healthy choices. If needed, students are connected with school counselors or other community agencies for support and education.
While the Department of Public Health requires schools to carry out this screening, please know that this is VOLUNTARY. As with any school screening, you have the right to opt-out. Parents/guardians, please be on the lookout for an opt-out letter that was provided to your student the first week or so in March during shop. For those parents/guardians who do not wish for their student to participate, there is a signature line and opt-out section to complete. If your student has misplaced the form, they can pick up another copy in the nurse’s office.
We encourage healthy choices and we are here to provide support and education. Together, GNBRVTHS and parents/guardians can make a difference in your life and we are all here for you.
For any questions or if you want to verbally opt-out your student, please reach out to the nursing staff in our Health Center:

Nurse Horsfall
Dear Families,
My name is Kim Horsfall, and I am excited to introduce myself as one of your school nurses. With 30 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, I have specialized in Pediatrics and Maternity. In 2008, I served as a school nurse for eight years at the elementary level, which solidified my passion for working with children in the school setting.
In 2015, I joined the GNBVT family, where I taught in the Nursing Assistant shop for ten years. While I enjoyed teaching and educating students, I missed the hands-on aspects of nursing, which led me to return to the Health Office in January of this year. I am excited to be back working in the health office and look forward to taking care of the students at GNBVT while getting to know them on a personal level. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy reading, gardening, exercising, and traveling.
Thank you for your support, and I look forward to working together to ensure the health and well-being of our students.
