Meet Mrs.Joanne Romanelli, the Academy B administrator at Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech.
Mrs. Romanelli’s teaching career spanned from 2001 to the spring of 2014, transitioning into an Academy Administrator in the fall of 2014. Describing her time as a student at GNBVT, she reflects on four years filled with valuable life skills, work ethics, and knowledge that paved the way for her nursing career. As an administrator, her day-to-day life is marked by constant problem-solving and interactions with staff and students, a dynamic role where plans seldom unfold as anticipated. Her motivation as a staff member is centered on witnessing students achieve their goals, underlining her commitment to their success. Mrs. Romanelli’s impact on students extends beyond the classroom; she aspires for them to realize her unwavering dedication to their well-being through every action and decision.

Returning to GNBVT was fueled by Mrs. Romanelli’s desire to positively influence students’ lives and pursue a career in education. While she never worked as a nurse at GNB, her roles as a Nurse Assistant and Medical Assistant instructor showcase her diverse experience. Mrs. Romanelli’s teaching philosophy involves making learning enjoyable and connecting it to real-world applications. Her preference for vocational schools stems from personal experience, believing in the myriad opportunities they offer. She emphasizes the importance of instilling work ethics in high school students, essential for their future success and independence in society.

Reflecting on her teaching career, Mrs. Romanelli cherishes the countless former students reaching out for assistance, highlighting the enduring impact she has had. Despite challenges like keeping students focused and fostering kindness, her commitment to education remains unwavering. Mrs. Romanelli’s professional journey includes roles at various hospitals and a one-year tenure at Diman Regional High School. Outside the classroom, she enjoys paddleboarding, kayaking, and family time. To the seniors, Mrs. Romanelli offers great advice: make safe decisions, recognizing their value and the desire for their long, successful lives. In essence, Mrs. Joanne Romanelli embodies qualities of hard work, care, teamwork, quick-wittedness, and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on her students.
