Graduation Cap Timeline 2019

Graduation Guidelines and Behavior

Note: Any prospective graduate who does not follow the graduation procedures WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE GRADUATION EXERCISE.

  1. Graduates must pay strict attention to all directions.
  2. Disruption WILL POST be allowed in order to take part in the graduation ceremony.
  3. Students cannot bring personal items to the graduation exercises – purses, flowers, etc. must be left in the field house.
  4. For your convenience flowers will be sold at the entrance of the field as a school-based fundraiser. Any interested parents and guests can purchase flowers before and after the ceremony, graduates are to receive, these after the ceremony. 
  5. No tossing of caps before, during, or after graduation (Diploma will be withheld).
  6. State law prohibits smoking, vaping, JUULing while on school campus.
  7. No gum chewing.
  8. Guest must not cross into graduate seating are. Guest will be allowed to enter stadium at 5:00 p.m.
  9. Only water is allowed on field.
  10. High heels will NOT be allowed on the field; consider wedges as an alternative.
  11. Parking for students will be along the road in the rear of the school behind the shops. Students will park closely on the grass, so as to ensure ample space for as many student vehicles as possible and to allow for emergency vehicle access.

Students must put their graduation caps on their dashboards upon entry.

  1. Balloons, air horns, and noisemakers are prohibited.
  2. Once the graduates begin to enter the field at 6:00 p.m., parents, guardians, and guests are asked to stand in honor of the graduates. The students on stage leading graduation inform the audience when to stand/sit for the National Anthem, etc. Parents, guardian, and guests must not pass beyond the yellow rope or approach the stage to take pictures.
  3. After the ceremony, students will return to the Field House to receive their diplomas. Parents, guardians, and guests are asked to wait outside of the Field House while students are receiving their diplomas.
  4. Parents, guardians and guests are not allowed in the Field House or main building. 
  5. The back gate of the campus (Church Street) will be open at the end of the ceremony for exiting the campus only.
  6. The size of our graduating class prevents us from providing more than 6 tickets per graduate

 


Graduation Cap Guidelines

Please take into consideration the following rules when decorating your graduation caps. Below are the guidelines:

 

  • Caps may NOT contain any advertisements, symbols, abbreviations, initials, words, slogans, patches, or pictures that refer to drugs, controlled substances, tobacco, alcohol, weapons, or anything of sexual nature.
  • Caps may NOT denote an affiliation with gangs or advocate drug use, violence, illegal activity, or disruptive behavior which is detrimental to the safety and welfare of others.
  • Caps may NOT be obscene, profane, vulgar, or lewd.
  • Caps may NOT threaten the safety and welfare of any person.
  • Only the flat, top area of the cap may be decorate. Nothing may be hanging or mounted from any of the sides of the cap.
  • Decorations must be flat on the surface of the cap. 3-D creations/objects are prohibited.
  • Graduation caps will be reviewed and approv3d in advance of the ceremony.

 

Failure to follow these rules will result in the removal of the cap at the ceremony. Below are some appropriate examples of designs that could be placed on your cap:

 

  • Thank a parent, grandparent, teacher, or friend
  • Recognize the college or university you will attend
  • State graduation year
  • Acknowledge the branch of military you are joining
  • Recognize your shop or technical area
