National School Lunch Program

GNB Students and Families,
 
Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School will be participating in the National School Lunch Program. As part of this program, GNBRVTHS will offer healthy meals every school day at NO COST due to the Massachusetts Universal Free School Meals program. Students will be able to participate in these programs without having to pay a fee or submit a household application.
Each student will be allowed to take one regular meal per meal service period. Students may want to receive additional meals, or to purchase a la carte items. Students will pay for additional meals at the regular rate approved by the School Committee. Student Accounts will be maintained by the District Food and Nutrition Program as prescribed by the District and delineated in the Student Handbook.

The parent/guardian is responsible for any meal charges incurred beyond the free meals provided. If there is a financial hardship, a parent/guardian should contact food services directly to discuss payment options such as an individualized repayment plan.
If students purchase additional items than the allotted free component breakfast or lunch, payment will need to be made by the student. For cash free transactions, families can establish an account with your student’s ID number to put money on their account to scan their ID at checkout by using www.myschoolbucks.com or https://gnbvt.edu/school-year-information
 
ALL applications completed in the school year 2025-2026 have been removed, a NEW application needs to be completed each year unless you are directly certified through a state agency. If you have already been notified of your status (direct certification) through an email from school.lunch@gnbvt.edu you do not need to complete another application. The application may assist for reduced pricing on AP testing, PSATs, etc. based on income eligibility.

In addition, please consider applying for SNAP, the federal nutrition program that provides eligible residents with monthly financial assistance to purchase groceries. More SNAP information can be found at gettingsnap.org or by calling Project Bread’s FoodSource Hotline at 1-800-645-8333.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) nondiscrimination regulation (7 CFR 15b), as well as the regulations governing the Child Nutrition Programs, make it clear that substitutions to the regular meal must be made, at no extra cost, for children who are unable to eat meals served in any Child Nutrition Programs (CNP) because of their disabilities. USDA's Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) has issued SP 59-2016: Policy Memorandum on Modifications to Accommodate Disabilities in the School Meal Programs  and CACFP 14-2017, SFSP 10-2017 Modifications to Accommodate Disabilities in the Child and Adult Care , which clarify that Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) institutions and facilities and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) sponsors (Program operators) and School Food Authorities (SFAs) are required to make reasonable modifications to accommodate children with disabilities.
