GNBVT Softball Team ARE the State Champions!

We are extremely proud of our Softball team for earning its first Division 2 State Championship title. On June 23, 2018, the GNBVT Bears faced Central Champions, Leicester, at Worcester State University in the final tournament game. In a competitive match, the Bears were triumphant with a 5 to 1 victory. The team had a long road to earn their title as they faced and defeated not only Leicester, but also, North Reading, Dennis Yarmouth, Fairhaven, Norton and Middleboro.

In their final game, the stands were filled with many people in the community supporting their success from parents and friends to GNBVT faculty, staff and school committee members. It was a memory for a life-time as the crowd erupted after the final out, knowing that this team made GNBVT history!

The New Bedford Police Department with School Resource Officer Leanne Fisher helped make the victory celebration even a little more unforgettable as they provided the team’s bus with a police escort back into school. It was truly a heartfelt moment for both the team and the school. These young ladies embodied the core values of GNBVT and they demonstrated every aspect of what it means to be a GNBVT student-athlete and a member of a true TEAM!
