Sophia DeAlmeida
Class of ’24

Information Technology
Programming and Web Development
Hi my name is Sophia DeAlmeida and I am in the Programming and Web Development shop. I am an academy representative of the Class of 2024, as well as the president of my school’s chapter. After high school my goal is to go to college in order to work towards becoming an ultrasound technician.
I joined SkillsUSA as a freshman competing in the exploratory project demo competition and won gold. It was an amazing experience that I learned a lot from. I joined SkillsUSA because one of the teachers during exploratory brought it up to me and I thought that it sounded fun and would be a good opportunity for me to try something new and gain skills in leadership and technical skills. I have noticed by participating in SkillsUSA it has helped me with my confidence and has shown me that I can do things that I never thought I could. I love that by doing SkillsUSA I am able to be a leader and help the people around me. Not only that, but I also love that I get to work with other people, especially people I have never met before. I also get to look at things from a new perspective as other people around me see it and I get to see their leadership skills and how they handle things. I hope in the future to become a SkillsUSA alumni and give back by becoming a yellow jacket.
