GNB Voc-Tech’s 41st annual open house brought over 1000 people to see the school, and students to explore different shops. The 2018 open house presentation at Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech was a success. Superintendent O’Brien opened with a warm welcome to the audience of future students and their parents. Then, after many speakers conveyed important information, the audience was escorted throughout the school by the National Honor Society and Student Mentor tour guides.
Students got to go through the school and see how each shop functions and the curriculum for each career major. Open house allowed middle schoolers to get a better look before applying to GNB Voc-Tech and current students to showcase their academic and shop accomplishments to those who attend. Culinary was selling their famous meat pies and other delicious treats that visitors could purchase. Visitors went to shops to see examples of their great work. Many current students who attend the school, if they were not giving a tour, volunteered inside their career major, allowing parents and children to ask questions.
