I’ll be in the school till I retire, and I have no plans on retiring anytime soon.
Mr. Rick Quintin
Meet Richard Quintin, an Information Technology teacher at Greater New Bedford Voc Tech. Mr. Quintin has been a full time teacher since 1992. He teaches the Freshman exploratory group during the day and is also the director of GNB Voc Tech Institute at night. He started teaching in the Adult Ed Program when he was a student in 1983, and has been at GNB Voc-Tech ever since. Mr. Quintin enjoys the three days he gets to meet and greet a new group of Freshman during exploratory. He enjoys telling them jokes and spreading positivity throughout the school environment. He does his best to give the Freshman group an idea of what it is like to be in the Information Technology field. It’s not always easy for him to juggle between his job as an Information Technology Teacher and a Director at the GNBVTI night Program, but he enjoys what he does very much and would not change a thing. Five years from now, his goal is to still be at GNB Voc-Tech. His motivation comes from helping students enjoy learning and helping them make the most of their High School experience. Mr. Quintin helps students improve in their academic fields by combining the roles of an English teacher, Math teacher, and Science teacher all into one while being a Computer Program teacher. He also encourages his students to keep track of their off cycle academic homework during shop time while reminding them that he cares about how they are doing during their academic classes. His favorite thing about GNB Voc-Tech is the school community. “We have great faculty and staff full of dedicated people that love what they do, and this school attracts great students that are really enthusiastic about learning” he said. Mr. Quintin exhibits his passion for our school through his involvement and hard work every day.
