In a video message to the GNBVT Community, faculty and staff wanted to send a message of hope in a unique way. Also, this is the first day of teacher appreciation week and this video is dedicated to all the GNB Voc-Tech teachers to thank them for their continued inspiration during the most difficult times.

“Hope” is the thing with feathers – (314)

“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –

And sweetest – in the Gale – is heard –
And sore must be the storm –
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm –

I’ve heard it in the chillest land –
And on the strangest Sea –
Yet – never – in Extremity,
It asked a crumb – of me.

“Hope” by Emily Dickinson is one of her most popular poems of all time. In this poem, the speaker compares hope to a bird that is present in every human’s soul. Since every human possesses this “bird” every human has hope. In trying times, we can always depend on our hope to get us through — hope sets us free. No matter what happens, we will come out on the other side of this pandemic stronger, and more hopeful together.
