Meet Mr. Matthew Grieve, the Engineering Related teacher here at Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech. Mr. Grieve has been working at GNBVT for 18 years. He was originally a teacher at Roosevelt Middle School, a local school in New Bedford. He overheard the school announcing students who were applying to GNBVT. Coming from Rhode Island, Mr. Grieve had never heard of this school, so being naturally curious he decided to put in some research on the school, and learned about what it had to offer. Hearing good things about the school, he decided to apply for a spot here. Needless to say, he’s enjoying his job.

Mr. Grieve is the related teacher for the Engineering and Robotics shop. He teaches Engineering and Math with the sophomores, Principles of Engineering with the juniors, and Civil Engineering and Architecture with the seniors. Before this, he was the related teacher for the Environmental Science and Technology Shop. Mr. Grieve has also spent time in the industry, working as a civil engineer.

Outside of Engineering, Mr Grieve enjoys playing ice hockey, working in his yard, and spending time with his family. Mr. Grieve strives to make what he teaches easier and better for the students, and pushes himself to be better as an educator. With five related classes per day, Mr. Grieve is always looking to improve his teaching, make sure students learn, and help students prosper later in life with the careers they choose to pursue. He enjoys teaching the future artisans of GNBVT.
