Djeury Amado is a track all-star this year. In his senior year, Amando has been recognized locally and by the state. For Southcoast Today, he was 2017-18 Standard-Times Boys Track Athlete of the Year.  He also received the distinguished commendation as an all-scholastic for The Boston Globe.

Amando has participated twice in the Div. 2 state champion ship for the 100-meter dash in spring of 2017. He won both times. Besides being a tremendous track athlete, Amando plays soccer at GNB Voc-Tech as the striker. Next year, Amando intends to continue participating in Track and attend college to major in business. According to the write-up in Southcoast Today, Amando said, “When I go to college, I want to work hard so I can go to the Olympics.”

Mr. Thornhill, Amado’s coach, holds Amando to the highest standards and has been extremely please to have been his coach. In the Southcoast Today article, Thornhill said, “He’s probably the best sprinter I’ve coached here. We’ve had some good sprinters, but he works to get better and better each time out. I’m excited to see what the spring brings.”
