Carl Swass

Meet Carl Swass, a Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech science department educator. Mr. Swass is full of life, wisdom, and geekery. Mr. Swass has been teaching at GNBVT for roughly eleven years, originally striving to become a physician’s assistant during college. Mr. Swass describes his college experience as “eclectic”, having experienced a very uncommon college student experience full of in-and-out attending while desiring to enter the PA program. He speaks about his earning of his degree, “Suddenly I discovered, rather than, do what I thought I wanted to do, I finally kind of accidentally found what I should be doing” Mr. Swass said. He expressed how he found a place in science’s other abundant branches. After attaining his college degrees, Swass spent a year substituting, gaining a firsthand understanding of teaching with students here at GNBVT and has been a notable face here ever since through being not only an educator but an inspiration. Swass brings bright passion to the science of biology and horticulture, engaging his students with an invigorating teaching style, providing the best of both worlds: knowledge and engrossment.

“Rather than do what I thought I wanted to do… I found what I should be doing.”
