BPA Gifts to Give

On January 22nd, the GNB Voc-Tech BPA Chapter Officer Team actively engaged in volunteer work at Gifts To Give in Acushnet. Gifts to Give is an organization dedicated to forging a new form of philanthropy, fostering a more compassionate community focused on addressing child poverty, promoting literacy, serving others, and emphasizing the spirit of giving. Youth from diverse backgrounds learn, experience, and grasp the transformative power of giving and service through hands-on work. Gifts to Give provides free gift packages to 8,103 children, involving 12,312 student volunteers, and repurposing 453,000 pounds of clothes. The collective efforts of volunteers spanning ages 3 to 85 play an indispensable role in the day-to-day operations of Gifts to Give, highlighting the significance of their contributions.

Upon arriving at the facility, our officer team signed in and embarked on a tour to acquaint themselves with the establishment’s history and the various services it offers to the community. From organizing gift bags to cleaning toys meticulously, each team member was attentive and inspired by the organization’s dedication to making a positive impact. Following the tour, the students divided into groups and actively participated in different stations, contributing to the organization’s ongoing tasks.

Within the next two hours, the team returned to the van, unloading donated clothes from the highly successful Holiday Clothing Drive hosted at GNB Voc-Tech. Subsequently, they transferred the bags into the Gifts to Give collection system, successfully accomplishing their goals. By actively engaging in tasks at the Gifts to Give facility and donating clothing, our BPA Officer Team gained valuable insights into making meaningful contributions to a community in need. The GNB local BPA chapter expresses appreciation to parents, faculty, and staff who contributed to the holiday clothing drive, as they actively support the Gifts to Give mission.
