Rachel’s Challenge Club

Our goal is to spread kindness and compassion to students, faculty, and staff in the hopes of creating a more welcoming, loving and safe environment.

Seventeen year old Rachel Joy Scott was one of the first students killed in the 1999 shootings at Columbine High School. Shortly before her death, she wrote in her diary, “I have this theory that if one person can go out of their way to show compassion, then it will start a chain reaction of the same. People will never know how far a little kindness can go.” Rachel’s wisdom and understanding surpassed her age. Since her death, her parents have issued a challenge to us all: start a chain reaction of kindness. Rachel’s Challenge & Friends of Rachel seek to do just that. Our goal will be to spread kindness and compassion to students, faculty, and staff in the hopes of creating a more welcoming, loving, and safe environment here at Greater New Bedford Voc Tech. Join us in leaving a positive and lasting impact on our school community.
