It is with great sadness that the After Prom Committee has decided along with the support of the Administration team they are unable to run a safe After Prom due to Covid-19.
The committee realizes it wouldn’t be possible to hold this event with 80-100 volunteers plus over 600 seniors and their guests in the gym. “We need to put the safety of our students, parent volunteers, community members, faculty and staff first due to this deadly disease” Jenn Gaspar, GNBVT’s After Prom advisor said. The After Prom Committee will be donating the funds they raised throughout the year for the seniors’ caps and gowns.

The After Prom Committee is made up of parents, community members, faculty, staff and they are always looking for help. This would have been the After Proms 13th year, which provides a healthy, substance-free night for all of the seniors and their guests which takes place after prom night. The total cost to run this event every year is $20,000. They do not receive any money from the senior class. The After Prom is a separate entity and they must raise their own funds year after year.
Funds are raised through the support from local businesses, community members, faculty, staff and parent volunteers. The After Prom also had three fundraisers during this school year, Drive 4UR School, John Perrotti Comedy Show and the Portuguese Kids which helped raise money to get them closer to their goal. Mr. Voc-Tech, one of the After Prom Committees’ biggest fundraisers of the year, was canceled due to Covid-19, this would have been their 12th annual event.

The committee would like to thank the 11 Mr. Voc-Tech contestants: Zyre Andrade, Jordan Buhour, Sheldon Clark, Ian Curvelo, Asher Machado, Ryan McCarthy, Ethan Perry, Cesar Rodriguez, Kenny Studman, Colin Wildrick and Juan Zamora Arenas.
Even though the show was canceled, the After Prom Committee can’t thank them enough for their hard work and dedication. The committee would like to thank Jacob “Spicey” Lopes for taking time out of his college life to host Mr. Voc-Tech. Lastly, a big thank you to Abby Arruda, Sabrina Arruda, Myles Barth, Melanie Galdamez, Robyn Holmes, Samantha Masse, Adriana Paine, Cody Raposa, Kylie Rezendes, Shax Santos, Sarah Saulnier for working on all the technical aspects during the two months of practices.
The After Prom would like to thank the businesses that supported the 2020 After Prom along with faculty and staff at GNB Voc-Tech. A big shoutout goes to the volunteers that plan and give their heart and soul to the senior class year after year.
