The New Bedford Art Museum/Art Works hosts the Teen Artist Internship Program. GNB Voc-Tech’s own Visual Design and Communications students, Mary Thompson and Asher Machado, have completed their participation in this program!

The goal of this program is to inspire and educate high school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing a career in the visual arts. The participants get a mentor who creates art with them and shares creative experiences with them as they form a bond unlike any other.

Mary Thompson’s mentor was Taylor Maroney, a MFA student at UMass Dartmouth. Mary wrote, “The Teen Artist Internship Program has improved my art skills and definitely has helped me grow as an artist. The best take away was the ability to spend time with another artist and witness their creative process.”

Asher wrote, “I’ve learned about art shows and different artists of the past. I’m so grateful to have been a part of the Teen Artist Internship Program and to have been paired with Jay.”Teen Artist Internship artwork
