Program Description
Office Technology is a two-year, pre-professional program designed
for junior and senior students planning careers in business or
finance. Training will provide students with an extensive skill set in
computer fundamentals, office applications and procedures,
communications, accounting principles, time management, and
career planning. The strong emphasis placed on career planning is
intended to guide students to challenging fields in which significant
growth is anticipated by the Labor Department over the next ten years.
Students in Office Technology become members of Business
Professionals of America (BPA) and are eligible to take part in BPA sponsored
skills competitions involving high school students from across Massachusetts.
State winners become eligible to participate in BPA's national competition.
Students also have the opportunity to obtain Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification.
Graduates from the Office Technology program will be ready for employment in a host of office settings
and will be prepared to compete in post secondary programs
at the associate and bachelor's level.
