Basic Carpentry
Course # CP-01
Night: Monday

This course will introduce woodworking basics; specific skills in measurement, layout, and the proper use of hand tools. Students will be required to make a few small projects with step-by-step procedures and instruction. The basics are vital knowledge needed to better understand more advanced woodworking techniques. Safety is stressed throughout.

Basic Carpentry II
Course # CP-07
Night: Thursday

Prerequisite: Basic Carpentry/previous carpentry training

This course will continue with woodworking basics; specific skills in light power tool equipment, basic joinery, and cabinet basics. Students will be required to make a few small projects with step-by-step procedures and instruction. Knowledge gained will assist students in furthering their skills in woodworking. Safety is stressed throughout.

Millwork
Course # CP-04
Night: Monday or Tuesday

Prerequisite: CP-01 or previous carpentry training

The use of power equipment and its safety makes up this program. Students are required to do a project that involves the use of circular saw, jointer, radial saw, planer, shaper, and small power tools.

Fine Woodworking
Course # FW-01
Night: Monday

Prerequisite: CP-01 or previous carpentry training

If you have some experience in woodworking and would like to take the next step in creating a turn of the century piece, take the challenge. This course includes complete step by step instruction in creating a one of a kind piece such as a Queen Anne step stool and true hand cut dovetail blanket chest, using typical hand tools and modern machined techniques.

Advanced Fine Woodworking
Course # FW-03
Night: Thursday

Prerequisite: CP-01, FW-01 or previous carpentry training

This is a two-semester course* for the interested woodworker who would like to produce a family heirloom to last for generations to come. Students will be instructed on how to produce a quality piece of furniture from a rough piece of wood to a fine finished product, by using modern day machinery techniques that is associated with solid, long-established joinery practices. Join the fun and satisfaction in making such a showpiece.

CNC Router for Woodworking
Course # CP-08
Night: Thursday

Modern woodworking technology includes the understanding, operation, and application of a computerized CNC router. Learn to operate a state-of-the-art computerized router for woodworkers, fabricators, and production workers. Students will learn on a 5’ x 10’ numerical router, use Alpha-CAM design software, and learn entry-level skills required for both shop and production work. Approximately twenty-four hours will be spent on the computer, learning how to design components in CAD, choosing the correct tooling, tool direction, and tool pathing. Students will work independently on their own computer. Finally, students will design and fabricate a project on the CNC router.

Residential Housing Technology
Course # CP-03
Night: Tuesday

This course is designed for the future or present homeowners that are contemplating building, renovating, or repairing their own homes. Classes will cover building terminology, code requirements and drawing techniques to obtain a building permit. Shop instruction will include use of hand and power tools, rafter and stair layout using a framing square. The construction of a scale model house will be the focus of this course.
